Former Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici has been handed a 18-month suspended jail sentence as part of a plea bargain deal. Paratici was involved in the infamous Juventus "Plusvalenza" scandal, where a group of Bianconeri officials, including Czech legend Pavel Nedved, were found guilty of misleading Serie A chiefs.

Paratici stepped down from his role at in March 2023 after being handed a 30-month ban. The Italian official was sanctioned for his role in alleged financial irregularities during his time at . The illegal scheme involved inflating transfer fees while dealing with other clubs, which allowed the Bianconeri to spend beyond their limits under the Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Sun reports that as part of a bargain plea submitted in June this year, three Juventus officials, including Paratici, will serve a suspended jail term of 18 months. Ex-Juve president Andrea Agnelli accepted a 20-month suspended sentence, while Nedved signed up for a suspended 14-month term.

After Paratici’s 30-month suspension ended this summer, he was linked with a move back to Spurs. However, following his conviction, the Italian can no longer return to work in as per a revised rule, which was agreed by all English clubs in 2023, that no individual involved in “corruption, fraud and tax evasion” can be included on the board of a side.

Thomas Frank’s Tottenham, who have made a bright start to the 2025-26 campaign by registering three wins out of their first five Premier League matches, will next face in a third-round fixture against Doncaster on Wednesday.
